US Indices managed to end slightly higher after opening with steep losses. The Nasdaq rose 1.75% and the S&P 500 increased by 0.16%. Indian domestic markets opened on Wednesday with minimal gains, mirroring advances from Wall Street.

At 11:45 am, the Nifty 50 was trading at the 15,867.10 level, rising by 0.36%. On the Nifty 50 index, the top gainers were Britannia Industries Ltd, Hero Motocorp and Bajaj Finance whereas; Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Hindalco Industries and Power Grid Corporation of India were the top losers of the session.
Sensex was trading at a level of 53,378.74, advanced by 0.46%. The stocks trading in the green were Bajaj Finance, Hindustan Unilever Ltd and Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd whereas, NTPC Ltd, Power Grid Corporation of India and Tata Steel were the top draggers of the session.
In early trade, the rupee gained 9 paise to 79.24 against the US dollar, recovering from its record low level. On fears that a recession may weaken demand, oil prices rose beyond $100 a barrel after plunging more than 8% to their lowest level since late April. If a demand-crushing recession occurs, crude oil prices might fall to $65 per barrel by the end of this year and to $45 by the end of 2023, Citigroup Inc has warned.
