Indian benchmark indices are trading on a positive note amid volatility in the market

On Thursday, Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 345.22 points or 1.17%, to end at 32,246.55. The S&P 500 fell 1.76% to end at 3,960.28. The Nasdaq Composite jumped 2.48% to close at 11,717.28.

The domestic market made a positive opening. Nifty rose close to 0.77% at 17,115.55 while Sensex rose close to 0.60% to touch 58,011.50. The BSE midcap index traded up by 0.56% at 24,185 while the BSE small cap index was also up by 0.79% at 27,192. Nifty IT was the best-performing sector with a gain of more than 1.11 %, while Nifty FMCG was the worst-performing sector with a loss of more than 0.04%.

At 10:00 pm, HDFC Life, Infosys, ONGC, HCL Tech and Larsen & Toubro were among the top gainers whereas BPCL, Eicher Motors, TCS, Hero Motorcorp and ITC were among the market draggers.  The advance-decline ratio favoured advances with 2041 shares rising on the BSE and 647 shares falling, while 89 remain unchanged.
