Today NIFTY PSU BANK was the best performing index and NIFTY IT was the worst-performing index.

Equity market in India extended its losing streak as Sensex fell by 566 points in today’s trade. Nifty 50, the broader frontline equity indices decline by almost 150 points. It opened at 17842.75 against the previous close of 17957.40, which means a gap down of 114.65 points. Nifty tried to gain some ground during the trading hours, however, could not gain much and closed with a loss of 149 points.

In today’s trade, the best performing index was NIFTY PSU BANK it was up by 1.99%. This is followed by NIFTY METAL, which was up by 1.35%. The worst performing index in today's trade was NIFTY IT. It is down by 1.63%. Out of the total 10.0 companies forming part of the index, all closed in red.

Companies that supported Nifty 50 in today’s trade were 'IOC', 'Tata Steel', 'L&T', 'Nestle', and 'SBI' together they contributed around 24.22 points gain in index. While the companies that dragged the index were 'HDFC Life', 'TCS', 'Infosys', 'HDFC' and 'HDFC Bank'. These companies contributed 134.7 points towards the fall of Nifty 50.

Overall market today was in favour of advances. At close advance to decline ratio stood at 259:229.
