Benchmark indices ended at a day's high with strong gains amid broad-based buying on Tuesday.

In today's session, the Nifty 50 gained 2.63% to close at 16259.3, while the SENSEX gained 2.54% to settle at 54318.47. On the NSE, all of the sectoral indices ended in the green, with metal, oil & gas, and media stocks leading the way. The broader market saw widespread purchasing.

The S&P BSE Mid-Cap index increased by 2.51%, while the S&P BSE Small-Cap index increased by 2.78%. The market breadth, which indicates the market's overall health, was solid as 2,624 shares increased on the BSE, while 713 declined and 125 shares remained unchanged. The Sensex and the Nifty have gained over 3% in two trading sessions.

Europe and Asian stock markets advanced on Tuesday, as investors sought to build on the positive momentum witnessed at the start of the new trading week. Nifty Metal index closed up 6.86% at 5727.45 today. The index has slipped 14.00% over the last one month. Among the constituents, Vedanta Ltd added 11.79%, Hindustan Copper Ltd gained 9.97% and Hindalco Industries Ltd rose 9.58%. The Nifty Metal index has soared 10.00% over last one year compared to the 8.95% increase in the benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty Commodities index gained 4.02% and Nifty PSE index added 3.26% on the day.
