List of top 5 gainers and losers in the midcap and smallcap segment for the week from December 02 to December 08, 2022.

The frontline index S&P BSE Sensex declined 0.47% or 297.82 points during the week and closed at 62,570.68 on December 01, 2022.

The fall was broad based during the week with S&P BSE Mid Cap closing down by 0.42% at 26,212.36. The S&P BSE Small Cap also ended at 29,855.79 declining 0.19%.

The biggest gainer in the mid-cap segment for the week was Punjab & Sind Bank. Shares of this Indian public sector bank rose by 35.91% for the week from the levels of Rs 23.25 to Rs 31.6. In its exchange filing on December 2, the company said, “we inform that fraud of Rs 53.79 crore (approx) has been perpetrated in a Branch of the Bank. Bank has filed an FIR with CBI and all necessary steps are being taken for the recovery of funds as well as safeguarding Bank and Customers interest. The amount is not expected to have a significant impact on the Financials of the Bank and the Bank shall make required provisions in line with the Regulatory Guidelines.”
