Sensex jumps 500 points; Nifty reclaims 16,000 level on firm global cues.
Asian markets rose on Tuesday as US President Joe Biden is about to roll back some of the tariffs on Chinese goods which were imposed during the Trump era. Japan's services sector activity expanded at the fastest pace in over eight years in June 2022. SGX Nifty indicated a flat opening with a loss of 14 points. In contrast, Indian benchmark indices were trading higher amid positive cues from the global markets.

At 12:05 pm, the Nifty 50 was trading at the 16,009.45 level, jumping by 1.10%. On the Nifty 50 index, the top gainers were Hindalco Industries, Bajaj Finserv and Tata Steel Ltd whereas ITC Ltd, Britannia Industries and Maruti Suzuki were the top losers of the session.
Sensex was trading at a level of 53,820.43, having surged by 1.10%. The stocks trading in the green were Bajaj Finserv, Tata Steel and Power Grid Corporation of India whereas ITC Ltd, Maruti Suzuki and IndusInd Bank were the market draggers.
On the sectoral front, all the sectors were trading upwards with BSE Metals and BSE Utilities being the top gaining sectors. BSE Metals surged over 2.5% led by Hindalco Industries, APL Apollo Tubes and Vedanta Ltd. PTC India Ltd was the top performer in the BSE Utilities pack with gains of over 7%.
