सारांश:

The Indian rupee began Thursday’s session on a firmer note, supported by a softer U.S. dollar, even as elevated crude oil prices continued to limit gains in the domestic currency.

The Indian rupee opened 8 paise stronger against the U.S. dollar on July 30, recovering after recent volatility in global currency markets. The domestic unit started the day at 95.58 per U.S. dollar, compared with Wednesday’s closing level of 95.64, as the market reacted to the U.S. Federal Reserve’s latest policy decision.

Currency markets remained cautious after the Federal Reserve kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged. While the central bank’s decision was widely anticipated, investors continued to assess its policy outlook, with the U.S. dollar giving up some ground during Asian trading.

Softer Dollar Offers Support

According to Finrex, the rupee is expected to trade in a relatively narrow range during the session as weakness in the U.S. dollar index partly offsets the impact of higher crude oil price levels. The dollar index eased to 100.90, while rising geopolitical tensions continued to keep energy markets on edge.

Finrex said the rupee could move within the 95.35-95.85 band after posting gains in each of the previous three sessions. The research firm added that exporters may step up dollar sales if the currency strengthens further, whereas importers are likely to utilise any weakness in the rupee to meet their dollar requirements.

Higher crude oil price levels remain an important factor for the domestic currency because India imports a significant share of its energy needs. Any sustained increase in the crude oil price can influence the country’s import bill and foreign exchange outflows.

आशियाई चलनांमध्ये सर्वाधिक वाढ

Most Asian currencies strengthened against the U.S. dollar during early trade. The Malaysian ringgit recorded the strongest gain, rising 0.208% from its previous close.

The Indonesian rupiah advanced 0.055%, followed by the Chinese renminbi, which gained 0.040%. The Philippine peso appreciated 0.029%, while the Singapore dollar added 0.016%. The South Korean won and Thai baht also edged higher by 0.014% and 0.012%, respectively.

In contrast, the Japanese yen slipped 0.018%, while the Taiwan dollar declined 0.015% against the U.S. currency.

Focus Remains On Global Cues

The U.S. dollar regained some stability at the start of the Asian session after the Federal Reserve maintained interest rates and market participants evaluated the central bank’s policy stance. Movements in international energy markets, the price trend in crude oil, and the trend in the dollar index will continue to be the major factors that will affect the rupee in the coming days.

For now, however, the local currency has started off with some gains, but further movements during the day will largely depend on international markets and the demand for dollars by importers and exporters.
