4 નવેમ્બર, 2026 ના રોજ પ્રકાશિત એક રિપોર્ટ મુજબ, એસેટ મેનેજમેન્ટ કંપનીઓને એક જ રજિસ્ટ્રેશન હેઠળ અલગ AMFI રજિસ્ટ્રેશન નંબર (ARN) દ્વારા આયોજિત બિઝનેસ લાવવા માંગતા વિતરકો પાસેથી વિનંતીઓ પ્રાપ્ત થઈ છે.

The requests follow changes introduced by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) that have reduced the earlier financial incentive associated with operating through multiple registrations.

An ARN identifies a registered mutual fund distributor authorised to distribute mutual fund products in accordance with applicable industry requirements.

Why Some Distributors Maintained Multiple ARNs

Certain distribution businesses previously operated through several registrations, including registrations held by family members.

In some cases, individual registrations were used to keep turnover below the applicable GST registration threshold.

Under the earlier structure, differences in GST treatment could influence how distribution businesses organised their registrations and commission receipts.

The revised framework has reduced this advantage.

Maintaining multiple registrations can also involve additional administrative requirements, including separate accounting, tax compliance and investor communication.

As a result, some distributors are reviewing whether continuing with several ARNs remains operationally practical.

How Registration Consolidation Works

Combining registrations involves more than requesting an administrative change from the asset management company.

The reported process requires distributors to obtain the consent of affected investors.

Investors are provided a 15-day period to raise objections to the proposed consolidation.

Where no objections are received, the distributor must seek approval from the AMFI-ARN Committee.

Following approval, the distributor can approach the asset management companies with which it conducts business and request that the relevant registrations be consolidated.

Future commission payments can then be routed through the approved registration structure.

Implications for Mutual Fund Distribution

The development reflects adjustments taking place within the mutual fund distribution industry following changes to commission-related regulations.

Registration consolidation could simplify administrative processes for distributors operating across several fund houses.

However, the change does not automatically alter the underlying investments held by mutual fund investors.

Existing scheme holdings, investment objectives and portfolio values remain separate from the distributor's registration arrangements.

The number of distributors ultimately choosing consolidation will depend on their business structure and the applicable registration requirements.
